Square Enix has announced just a few hours ago the arrival of Final Fantasy XVI on PC. The sixteenth main installment in the Final Fantasy series, one of the most famous and beloved RPG series. The announcement was accompanied by a new trailer and a very close launch date.
Final Fantasy XVI – The PC Version Announcement and Release Date
The announcement comes directly from Square Enix on 19th August 2024, officially announcing the long-awaited PC version of this action RPG. The PC version will arrive in less than a month on 17th September 2024, a little over a year after its exclusive release on PS5. A fantastic news for fans of the series, who in recent years have received the Remake of the beloved Final Fantasy VII and waited 6 years on PC for the entry after FF XV. The announcement also comes with a brand-new trailer titled “DELIVERANCE”.
Final Fantasy XVI – The Demo now available
The announcement of FF16 on PC comes along with the confirmation of the presence of the DLCs Echoes of the Fallen and The Rising Tide, which further expand the gameplay and story experience. But that’s not all, as we can also try part of the new story, revolving around the Eikons and the protagonist Clive Rosfield, with a demo released alongside the announcement. A definitely welcomed addition for many to try the game during this summer vacation and see how the game runs on their system.
Final Fantasy XVI – System Requirements and Optimization
Minimum (30 fps at 720p and at least 8GB VRAM)
- OS: Windows 10 / 11 64-bit
- Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 1600 / Intel Core i5-8400
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- Graphics Card: AMD Radeon RX 5700 / Intel Arc A580 / NVIDIA® GeForce GTX 1070
- Storage: 170 GB (SSD)
Recommended (60 fps at 1080p and at least 8GB VRAM)
- OS: Windows 10 / 11 64-bit
- Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 5700X / Intel Core i7-10700
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- Graphics Card: AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT / NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080
- Storage: 170 GB (SSD)
The minimum requirements are not too demanding, although at least 8GB of VRAM is required even at the lowest settings. The port seems to also have some performance issues even on higher end cards, requiring the use of upscaling technologies like DLSS and FSR to achieve even 60fps. Additionally, there is a lack of dedicated drivers from Nvidia and AMD. Hoping that by launch, the team at Square Enix will have resolved most of these performance issues to provide the ideal experience for Final Fantasy XVI.
